What is it?

The Family DOORS online training program helps professionals use the Family DOORS in everyday practice.

The training enables professionals to:

The Family DOORS online training program has been developed by the Australian Institute of Social Relations. It draws upon wisdom of the authors of the tools and the practice wisdom of professionals who have used the framework many times.

Who can participate?

This training program has been specifically designed for all helping professionals, including family law practitioners, counsellors, psychologists and social workers.

Professional Development

Participants who complete the online training will receive a Certificate of Completion, which may be used towards Professional Development (PD) or Continuing Professional Development (CPD). It is advisable to liaise with your relevant professional body about their mandatory requirements if you are intending to claim for PD or CPD.

Training Program Format

The training program is provided as an interactive online course involving audiovisual presentations, video lectures and interviews, video case demonstrations, interactive case studies and quizzes. We estimate the learning and associated activities will take 3-4 hours to complete.

  • What do we mean by risk?
  • Why screen?
  • The research on risk
  • How to use the DOORS
  • Reading the DOOR 2 report
  • Responding to risks

To access and use the online training, learners will require:
