Family DOORS Everyday is intended for use by registered practitioners working in helping professions, including but not limited to Family law practitioners, Counsellors, Psychologists, Social workers. Please see the DOORS FAQ for more information about the framework and how to use it in practice.
- Practitioner Initiates Screening: Practitioners, counsellors and other helping professionals use Family DOORS Everyday to send a screening link to their client’s email address.
- Client Completes Screening: The client clicks the link to be guided through a series of questions related to various risk factors to their safety and wellbeing.
- Practitioner Receives Results: Once the client completes the screening, the practitioner receives both the DOORS 1(the clients results) and DOORS 2 (the aide memoire designed to provide guidance in practice) directly in their email.
- Create an Account (one time): Go to the Family DOORS Everyday and register for a unique practitioner ID using your practice email address and name.
- Confirmation Email: You’ll receive a confirmation email with a unique Practitioner ID and link to the login page where you can begin sending DOORS to your clients
- Save Your ID: Keep this Practitioner ID safe, as you’ll need it to log in to Family DOORS Everyday and send DOORS to your clients.
If you misplace your ID or are no longer able to access Family DOORS Everyday, please re-register using the same name and email. You will be resent your ID.

All data entered during the screening process is processed and deleted immediately after the screening is completed. This ensures maximum data security and privacy for both practitioners and clients.

If the client hasn’t received the screening link, please follow these steps:
- Confirm Email Address: Double-check the client’s email address for accuracy.
- Check Junk and Spam Folders: Ask the client to search their email inbox, including Junk, Spam, and Other folders.
- Resend Link: If the link is still not found, send a new link to the client’s email address.
- Alternative Contact: If the client is still unable to access the link, consider providing an alternative method for completing the screening, such as a paper-based version or scheduling a face-to-face session.
Unfortunately, there is no automatic save feature in Family DOORS Everyday. If a client doesn’t complete the screening in one session, they will need to start over from the beginning when they return.
The unique client link generated for each screening typically expires after 14 calendar days. If a client doesn’t complete the screening within this timeframe, the link will become invalid.
